English Ghillie

My sister and I moved to the United Kingdom for a year in order to experience a new culture, tradition and food. We took a year off from college and we packed our bags jumping in the British Airways with our tickets one way.

Not only the English language, people and traditions are different between the US and UK, but also the entire way of life. My very favorite was the tea time – every day at 12p people would make a tea. It was not a tea the way we make it – the one in the little baggies, English people make their own tea, it is usually black and strong and the whole preparation takes no less than an hour.

Another huge thing for the English people is hunting. Hunting is associated with your status; if you are an upper/middle class you definitely hunt. If you are aristocracy – you must hunt. Hunting is not limited to just shooting animals and chasing them all over the woods, it takes much more than that. The clothes you wear is quite important; from shoes to ghillie suits to hats – it all matters. You have to present yourself in a way that your hunting friends will respect you; you also have to be very knowledgeable about the animals you are going to hunt as well as the natural world. Showing up unprepared for hunting is taken as a bad taste and you might be asked to leave.

Food and hunting is a definitely a huge part of English tradition; people definitely respect their heredit, which makes England as special as it is.
