As unlikely as a hip-hop/alternative rock collaboration may sound, rapper Jay-Z and British rock band Coldplay have announced a business relationship that will ensue with a remix of the song "Lost!," a favorite off Coldplay’s newest album Viva la Vida. Dubbing the remix "Lost +," the song is sure to have a different appeal than the original calming version on Viva la Vida. "Lost +" is set to be released in November on the Coldplay EP Prospekt’s March, an album comprised of songs that didn’t make it on Viva la Vida as well as remixed tracks that did.

Capitol Records announced the release of Prospekt’s March set for November, and while Coldplay fans are anxiously awaiting the mysterious collaboration with Jay-Z, the partnership between the two surprisingly isn’t the first. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has worked with the East Coast rapper before, supplying vocals for the hip-hop song "Beach Chair," which appeared on Jay-Z’s 2006 album Kingdom Come.

They may be working with big dogs in the rapping and recording industry these days, but before hit songs like "Yellow" and "Clocks" popularized the name Coldplay, the group was just four Englishmen attending the University College of London. The quartet started playing music together in 1996 when they met at the university, shortly thereafter releasing demos and finally gaining a minor record deal in 1999. Coldplay’s 2000 album Parachutes catapulted the often-melancholy rock band into an international success, earning as much recognition in the U.S. as the U.K. The hit single "Yellow" was Coldplay’s breakthrough song, but quickly thereafter tracks like "The Scientist," "Clocks" and "In My Place" locked in the group’s bittersweet ballads and catchy crooning, even winning a Grammy Award for their work.

By 2003, Coldplay was a standard name in the music industry. Lead singer Chris Martin rose even higher on the public scene when he married Gwyneth Paltrow in December 2003, and the two have since had a baby girl named Apple Blythe Alison Martin. Continuing to pump out hits with the album X&Y, Coldplay eventually traded in their signature melancholy sound for a more upbeat style in the 2008 album Viva la Vida, a Brian Eno-produced album. Aside from releasing dozens of hit albums and songs, the London quartet has also been wowing crowds with Coldplay tickets to their various and always highly-anticipated live performances around the globe.
